i cut my IOT SSID onto a dedicated VLAN saturday and spent sunday morning undoing it 😂 i think i'm going to end up moving all my lighting to a SSID on a totally different channel. i am running out of ideas for slow wireless performance.#householdIT

@PopeASDF i have a unifi dream machine at the house in iowa. i generally love it, i think i actually have something configured weird but it's hard to confirm- everything on ethernet is fine, but i can't move more than 100Mbps on wifi and i don't know what the actual issue is so i am trying things like moving lighting and relays to a different band on a seperate mesh system (amplifi hd/unifi). i have some devices that must be on the homenet my family uses: ecobee and cameras and locks.

@emory yah that’s similar, I only recently retired the amplify as my 3rd wifi net… what does unifi os and WiFiman say? WiFiman does an awesome job on unifi ap’s

@PopeASDF it just complains about not using wifi 6 but i don't care. it says latency is extremely low. but wifi throughput is a shitshow.

@PopeASDF everything looks copacetic on the radios apparently but it's still a mess. i will have to run a pcap tail or something i can bear to force off ethernet to ensure i see this shit.

@emory obvious nonsense I’d ask if we were sitting there together: are there any errors on Ports? Flakey cable etc?

@PopeASDF welllllll i do use MTU 9000 on some GbE interfaces. a synology filer uses bonded 2x1GbE NICs is set to same. and ethernet seems to be fine. i don't think i would have ever fiddled with MTU on WiFi devices but i'll check a few and make sure!unifi and wifiman look totally fine. btw orange is super into peplink these days he's running some multi-wan router on the boat now.
