Some boat build progress.I plan to finish the gunwale and glass it today. The top part will be 2 layers of laminated plywood with 4-7 layers of fiberglass. I will use a lot of woven. And finally the topcoat.

@blueeyeswhtdrgn I probably would :feelsgoodman: But darn this is time consuming. 100% of this years vacation have been dedicated to 10 hours a day boat build. 7 days a week.Except, once a week when shopping with the wife. Those days I could only work half day with my boat.I really thought I was going to do this a lot quicker.I had repressed all about it. I built the cabin 17 years ago. Same thing exactly. The whole summer and in the autumn I launched when most were taking the boat up.

@DrFell Only the gunwale is foam filled. The resat is painted inside with top coat and ventilated in chambers. The round thing is a masked hole for a hatchet so I can get to the engine attach bolts.Another year I will put a fixed tank, battery and bilge pump there. For now only the gps is epoxied close to the transom. There are also 2 cable tunnels coming out the transom for trim pads.

@EvolLove Do you plan to troll with a net or poles?

@DrFell I was planing to troll with poles. And maybe use nets too, but not trolling with a net. Perhaps a trap or 2.I have moved from the Bothnian Bay to the Baltic sea. And the waves here are shorter and messier. So at this point my first mission is to make the boat function properly in these waters.

@EvolLove I am gonna have to repower this thing this winter. And if I could extend the cockpit by 2 feet or so I could fit 6 cylinder diesels in it and would be awesome. But I don't know if it is worth it.Sounds like you've spent a ton of time on that. It looks professional though. I've definitely seen worse that has come out of a yard.

@blueeyeswhtdrgn Thanks. I do try to make it proper, since I will use this on a rather tough sea. And if I am ever in a situation where I have to get to shore through rough weather, I don't want to be worrying if my boat will break :pepe_dream: Now to Ur question. Extending the cockpit. Question is, is it worth it to U? How much do U want it. Because U will not get a penny back on Ur investment.Selling and just buying another boat will always be the more economical option. :pepe_hands:

@blueeyeswhtdrgn So what boat is that?It reminds me of the Swedish Storebro. But with a very big cabin and fly bridge. I always wondered. Will the fly bridge not take a lot of wind? Or is the total weight and displacement of the vessel so massive that it doesn't matter?

@EvolLove it is a custom boat that was built on the molds of a glasply, which was a big company in my area during the 70s. I got a great deal on it when I bought it, but the motors are worn out and I have a cracked piston now.Yes the fly bridge takes a lot of wind. The boat gets blown around a lot. I plan on getting new canvas soon so I can easily remove it and reduce the surface area of the boat.

@EvolLove its pretty nice to drive from the flybridge though. The boat will go over 40mph and its easier to spot logs and dock from up there. But even having two adults up top changes the center of gravity enough to notice. Displacement is maybe 12000lbs and it moves around quite a bit when someone moves from side to side. Trimming it at speed with wind and others on board was chaotic enough for me to put zipwakes on it.
