just a little note some people might not like...first, i am against censorship, BUT!that doesnt mean i am against restricting access to mature content for children...therefore i have to admit when i am wrong and remedy my opinion...speaking to a lot of parents at work made me realize there IS something what has to be done to get kids off of mature content - and since it is impossible for parents to "control" kids there has to be some "official" solution...so, ye... i am now leaning eu...

@murawa I understand your point, but i think still it's a parent cop. You have many tools to restrict access as a parent for those content and many of them just being in good terms with your children and raw a reasonable line to them. The solution don't need to be law or technological, it should come from society itself. The main problem is many people ignore or don't take the internet seriously or worse don't understand it. The solution that the UK did was clear overreach for power.

@markrod20 two arguments i have tried to debunk several times...first "parents should do thei job, not the government"do you have kids? do you know how hard it is to actually know what your kid is doin? even the best helicopter parents cant always be know what their kids doin...just one kid sharing porn on the schoolyard can compromize good parenting of all the other kidssecond is the gov.what do you think the gov. tries todo here...they're tryin todo the job parents cant...

@murawa I disagree wholeheartedly with that govermant is the solution. THe solution is personal and group responsability of people. Maybe I sound naive as i come from a high trust society so my ideas sound alien in case you come from a low trust society. It's not imposible to do with self policing.

@murawa That's your experience and it is valid based on your experience. On the other hand based on my experience i know plenty of people who do self policing. Actually in my opinion you need to be a special kind of selfish to not uphold the social contract between people that you puton place to make things fly under basic decency. Maybe some country need tyranical masures like that as their culture is inferior, but most not as i see.

@markrod20 i think as a german i am probably the most qualified person to say what is self policing and what not...after all germans do stop at a red light in the middle of the night with nobody coming for miles at a remote location somewhere at a mountain spot...but i admit i made a mistake..i made my opinion public and i got massive backlash, so ye...sorry for bringing up my 2 cents... never happen again...

@murawa Never apologies for what you think. Having an oppinion, even if it's not poular is not a crime. Sometime unpopular ideas are the right ideas. I respect what you think. Ironically i would see that as a great example of selfpolicing works. Shame is a powerfull tool. If watching porn is shame less people will do it. A great example of self policing and something that would affect kids more. The reason why kids not afraid sometimes even openly watch porn as they percive it acceptable.

@murawa That's what need to be changed. That's what bring actual change. If the other kids reaction is not "this is cool i want more", but "Eh, that dirty we should not look at that", you don't want to be the unpopular pervert kid who can be picked on. The behavior and knowledge not spread and the problem is solved. Kids can't be prosecuted in most case anyway so making laws not prevent kids actively as they don't need to face consequences anyway, there is no risk for them.

@markrod20 you think kids dont face consequences?i dont think sothere were this murder recently where 3 girls killed one of their schoolmate just to make a "great video" about itthey put it on social media cuz they thought it was coolguess what? police showed up and now 2 of them facing a couple years in jail - the 3rd one is behind bars in a psychiatric and probably never gets out, since she did not show any sign of remorse during trialand i BET this never would happened if not for social

@murawa It is a tragidy, but an outliner asi see. If this kids don't have the basic emotional, logical and moral frame to grasp their action then there is a fault in their surranding. If you would tell a kid what is murder and if it' wrong to do it they would say yes. I need more info than this to evaluate that situation, but based on this little that is clear to me that maybe that amplified the situation but something need to be wrong being with to things like this happen.

@markrod20 the one thing wrong about is "groupforcing" - if they do it why dont you do it - you HAVE todo it too"...stuff like this happend all the time in history, but with the internet and the massive speed of information these days it amplified stuff like this...that's why i support the restriction to certain stuff on the web, even if it means proving my own age...i rather trade this to have a little less harm to innocent kids than to have my own freedom...yes i may be an idealist...

@murawa Being generous with others freedom is such a communist thing. Nice to see that you hold true to your values. I don't think that's a idealist stance, i think it's a collectivist stance. Idealist would be if you would propose something that would solve both problem. Don't take this as a personal attack, i just think the realistic solution always need to come from the people not from the authority of upmost violent power, the Goverment.

@murawa Here is the thing. We don't have full blown democracy. Full blown democracy don't work above a certain size, it was not made for this size. It was created for city states that have a clear look on their selfintrest. No country have true democracy. We have hybrid system that have democrative basis. The Eu is not a democracy the people in the EU parlament are not elected by the popular vote.

@markrod20 the eu is not a democracy either... im not sure if you are a eu citicen, but this is a clear misunderstanding...each country within the eu is a democracy - some are direct democacys, like switzerland or greece and some are parlamentairy democracys...the eu itself is just a organisation to connect and unify the needs of all the 27 states... every one each INDEPENDENT!they can apply eu law, but they dont have to!the eu is just developing guidelines to work together - nothing more...

@murawa Also if you a kid you don't know or care about the law. Also just like i said if there is a need someone will find a way. The more niche the access the more bad actor will exploit the need. In a sense free porn is the greatest preventer of certain sexual exploitations of the monotery kind. THat's how i see it at least.

@markrod20 well, i love bab 5 and until last week it aired here daily until the slot swapped for another rerun of tos...but i wouldnt say it is the "best"... tho g'kar's wisdoms are so delightfull...speakin of - here is my most favored moment in bab5 EVER!
