       Oh man, went into a science fiction bookstore and got flooded by memories of when I used to check these out from the local library in junior high school

       @ricci I remember reading one of these books. Forgot the title, but the premise was along the lines of "encounter with alien species that eats the brain of other sentient creatures whole and can draw on that creature's memories, but also we can cut the alien's spinal column such that the ingested brain gains control of the alien body" and it really made me think about sentience and sense of self and how easily those can be interrupted.Great reading for a 7ish year old lol
