@nobullyplz @toiletpaper Demographic screenings in this country are a joke. Someone from Kandahar has to put down "White, non-Hispanic" while someone from Barcelona can put "White, Hispanic" if they want the edge in those questionnaires. It's still stuck in 1880.

@mrsaturday @nobullyplz Not sure if it's still true or not, but (in Canaduh) it used to be illegal to have any field on a job application or other form of qualifying document which requested to know a person's race or religion. The only exception being indigenous "status" because it can include certain brakes from fees and taxes depending on the situation.

@bronze @nobullyplz @toiletpaper The world's a complex place and way smaller than when we started qualifying people. At this point it's been 30 years since mass worldwide immigration began to really hit the US, and our view of what people are really hasn't been brought up to date.Even Central Asia is a complete mess. You have Kazakhs that look typically "Asian" to the north of Tajiks that are very white-presenting. Kazakhstan likes to tether itself to Europe geopolitically while Tajikistan is undoubtedly in Asia. That's not even getting into if a Kalmyk moved here, is he Asian because he's of Mongolian heritage, or European because his family's been west of the Urals and north of the Caucusus for 300+ years? Why do we consider someone from Argentina, a borderline first world country that's considered Hispanic, less privileged than a Georgian, who comes from a dirt poor husk of a country full of what we would call white people?I don't have a good answer for how to fix it but the status quo isn't working.

@mrsaturday @bronze @nobullyplz It all just drives home the fact that these are utterly irrelevant distinctions which have no valid place in social discourse. In my view the main argument against color blindness isn't that people shouldn't fundamentally have the same basic human rights. It's that we should make a little effort to understand people's individual backgrounds and cultural outlooks in order to foster mutual respect. Unlike the classical liberal idea of rights, culture and background isn't uniform and homogeneous, nor will ever be.The problem is that the idpol zealots have hijacked and perverted this concept for the sole purpose of trying to win the victim Olympics and thereby gain some unearned personal advantage. It doesn't lead to solving social issues, but is actually intended to foster divisions and antagonisms in order for them to be able to justify their own selfish behaviour and bigotry. It's the behaviour of narcissists, not people who truly value social justice nor have any depth of understanding of it's philosophical underpinnings.

@cjd @bronze @nobullyplz @mrsaturday > I want to live in a White-Christian Apartheid> White Christians create liberal democracies> everyone else creates South Africas.Uh... SA was literally the definition of a White Christian Apartheid nation. What exists in that nation today is the inevitable result. Eventually the people with the boot on their neck will rise up and murder their oppressors. It's as reliable as sunrise.Besides which, liberal democracy was created by classical Pagans (and then NeoPagans vis-a-vis the Renaissance/Enlightenment). Christians are great at claiming credit for things they coopt, but they have yet to create anything of the sort in the entire 2,000 years of their hegemony. It only exists in spite of them.

@cjd @bronze @nobullyplz @mrsaturday I think the fact that they were outnumbered 3-1 by indigenous Africans with a track record of winning battles against the British while armed with leather shields and sticks, probably had something to do with it. They were always at a tactical disadvantage, and their treatment of the local population didn't up their chances one iota. Not to mention it made them an international pariah among the other liberal democratic nations.

       > This video below explains the context of morality pre- and post- Christinanity. Thanks, I was hoping he might discuss Pagan philosophy, but it was interesting nonetheless. One of the most frustrating things I find with Christians is their tendency to be talked into handing over the reigns of power to people who are not qualified to use it. Even if everybody ought to be treated kindly, that doesn't mean everybody ought to rule. Also interesting he is arguing that Jesus did exist, I've heard an interesting narrative that Christianity was an invention of the Romans, to placate rebellious Jews.

@cjd @bronze @nobullyplz @mrsaturday Dr. Ehrman and his colleagues are specifically BuyBull scholars, although the lady who was interviewing him (Megan Lewis), is an Assyriologist. I tend to favour the idea that Jesus is a myth. Even if there was a real individual that the myth is based on, the likelihood is they don't resemble the mythical personality in the slightest. If you're interested in Pagan philosophy, I could recommend Dr. M. David Litwa. He is *both* a scholar on early Christinanity (ie. Gnosticism) and the surrounding Pagan traditions (eg. NeoPlatonism, Hermeticism, etc). Most of his content is available on YT, or if you don't mind paying he has a bunch of courses through Patreon. There are some other decent Pagan scholars too, but which I'd point to depends on what culture and era.David Litwa's channel:https://youtube.com/channel/UCDmeuaHHwq9ssljFa4aN_EgMegan Lewis's channel:https://youtube.com/channel/UCBQo27DbqeB-xG17-kekrdQ

Even if there was a real individual that the myth is based on, the likelihood is they don't resemble the mythical personality in the slightest.I think this is likely true. The authoratitive texts regarding him weren't codified until 300 years after his death and they changed radically during that time.I think there was an original person, but he got so mythologised and had so many other myths attributed to him that it's impossible to separate fact from fiction. There's a book called Caesar's Messiah and it makes the case that if you read The New Testament and Josuphus's The War Of The Jews together, they have commonalities which are too significant to be dismissed.War Of The Jews documents the campaign of Vespasian and Titus which began in Galilee and ended in the destruction of Jerusalem. Significantly, their path of conquest matches the path of Jesus's travels from Galilee to Jerusalem.Furthermore, the way Christianity took Rome by storm, while other Jewish sects were very actively being demolished, raises suspicion. Not only that, the Jewish messianic sects at the time were incredibly violent - as evidenced from the Dead Sea Scrolls, one RARE piece of writing that was not destroyed by the Romans. So if we believe the official story, then Christianity was this total fluke of a religion that preached peace and harmony and was frankly VERY useful to the Romans who had been dealing with Jewish rebellion for centuries at this point. Now the New Testament makes predictions which turned out to be true:> Truly I tell you, not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down.> When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near.So if you believe that the New Testament was NOT back-dated, then you believe Jesus had an unnatural ability to predict the future, and at that point it's hard not to believe in miracles. But if you believe that the New Testament WAS back-dated, then it's hard to imagine anyone else who could have written it, except the Romans - as a sort of psychopathic victory lap after demolishing Jerusalem. And reading The New Testament and War Of The Jews side-by-side, there IS a very dark comedic interpretation.> This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.In The War Of The Jews, much ink is spilled ridiculing the poor residents of besieged Jerusalem who, lacking food, turned to cannibalism. This is just one, but there are numerous other equally fucked up examples. It is proposed that Christianity succeeded in Rome because it contained within it two messages. For the patricians, it was a celebration of the power of Rome to vanquish all enemies, torture them to death, and then rewrite history to make them the villains. For the plebeians, it was a useful ideology which would make them more yielding and slave-like.Put differently, the plebs worshipped Jesus, and the patricians worshipped the cross he was nailed to.

@cjd @Eiregoat @bronze @nobullyplz @mrsaturday Yes. I'm familiar and rather fond of Joseph Atwill's theory. He put out a YT documentary that summarises it also (https://youtu.be/zmEScIUcvz0). That's actually just one of a handful of proposed theories about who Jesus might have actually been. Even if it's not 100% true, I do feel there's a sufficient case for at least some of it being true. Certainly huge chunks of the NT narrative mirror nearly verbatim scenes from the Odyssey, Homeric Hymns, and various other works of Greco-Roman literature and satire. One of the oldest independent theories about who Jesus may have been is from the 1st century Babylonian Talmud which claims he was the bastard son of a Phoenician Roman soldier named Tiberius Julius Abdes Pantera, and names his mother as Miriam Stada (Stada means "the adulteress") who was formally married to Pappos ben Judah. The father Pantera supposedly died in Germany in 40 CE. Pantera is also mentioned in the First Book of Ethiopian Maccabees, and the 2nd century Greek philosopher Celsus is quoted as referencing that story in the 3rd century "Contra Celsum" by the early Christinane apologist and church father Origen of Alexandria (who's name ironically means "born of Horus", lol). That's to say nothing of the parallels between the Jesus legend and holy men such as Apollonius of Tyana, who may have served as a model/template for the creation of a new fictional Jewish übermensch to rival the more widely respected Pagan version (a common theme in Christinane mythology). On the one hand, it may be just anti-Christinane propaganda. But on the other hand, these are the sincere opinions of non-Christinane witnesses from as close to the actual time and place in question as we can get. So they can't just be dismissed out of hand. At the very least they sit side by side with the equally if not vastly more biased Christinane accounts from the era. These vids below detail 4 such theories, with Atwill's being the last, including some critiques of each.https://youtu.be/qIOd05_JOKYhttps://youtu.be/RHjUkI36d-Ehttps://youtu.be/EUqdWcMVoD0https://youtu.be/P4cKGVGMijMHonestly it could be any of these. Or none. Without concrete evidence to back it up, we might as well be speculating about how many pimples existed on the butt cheeks of Socrates. As fun as it is to consider, ultimately that question is equally as irrelevant to our modern daily concerns in life.

@cjd @Eiregoat @bronze @nobullyplz @mrsaturday FYI, the authenticity of Josephus' writings is highly debatable. The section about the Jewish wars is from a manuscript called the "Slavonic Josephus" (Testimonium Slavonium) which is written in Old Church Slavonic dating to the 15th century CE and was discovered in Russia in the 19th century. It's considered to be full of interpolations with anti-Khazarian propaganda, and differs from the other fragments of Josephus quite substantially. The oldest existing manuscript of Josephus (Testimonium Flavianum) which mentions Jesus is from the 11th century (Codex Ambrosianus 370, F 128), and is thought to be derived from the 4th century "Ecclesiastical History" by Christinane polemicist Eusebius of Caesarea.Suffice it to say that we're not talking about original documents from the era when Josephus was alive, but rather copies almost 1,000 years and more removed from the time period in question, presuming indeed they are copies and not outright fabrications.Basically all the non-Christinane sources considered early enough to corroborate that there was anyone called a "Christ" or a Jesus movement, refer to them as gullible superstitious fools at best and violent terrorists at worst.

The section in josephus that talks about jesus:1. Is oddly disjointed from the surrounding text. He's talking about idea A, then launches into a bit about Jesus, then goes right back to idea A again as if nothing happened.2. Is way too complimentary. Josephus was a pharisee. If the biblical narrative is correct they considered Jesus to be a grade-A heretic. No way he'd be complimenting him. There's also pilate's letter, but that doesn't show up until the 19th century. It refers to jesus as a pale skinned blonde too, which was a popular theory at the time (but not at any time before). The 19th century in general was rife with antiquarian fakes.

@Eiregoat @cjd @bronze @nobullyplz @mrsaturday Frankly everything about these so-called `sources` is utter bullshit when you dig into the provenance of the documents in question. The so-called `scholars` who promote this shit are generally believers first and foremost, and they disingenuously misrepresent the materials as being from the actual time period they're trying to `prove` rather than explaining that they didn't actually show up til centuries or even millennia after the fact with blatant evidence of being falsified. That includes the content of the BuyBull itself, not just the supposed secondary witnesses. It's almost entirely a colossal circle jerk for the sole purpose of trying vainly to maintain a basis for their retarded delusion of a belief system. The evidence of deliberate fraud, not only in modern scholarship, but in the actual sources themselves, is astronomical and beyond debate.

As wight pointed out josephus is a questionable source and the bits about Jesus were likely edited in later. We don't have an original copy from the pre-christian period and we know christian copyists had a tendency to "correct the record" if the text they were working on conflicted with the bible. So the fact that surviving copies of josephus agree with the NT doesn't prove much.> War Of The Jews documents the campaign of Vespasian and Titus which began in Galilee and ended in the destruction of Jerusalem. Significantly, their path of conquest matches the path of Jesus's travels from Galilee to Jerusalem. So they started at the top and worked their way down? Ok, doesn't mean much.> Furthermore, the way Christianity took Rome by storm, while other Jewish sects were very actively being demolished, raises suspicion. This is false on several points.1. Christianity initially did not take Rome by storm, it took some jewish communities by storm. Early christianity was almost exclusively a jewish movement. It was only later when they gained hegemony in Rome that it began to become more widespread.2. Early christians were also incredibly violent. Their text might have emphasised peace and tolerance but their physical behaviour was more likely to involve beating the shit out of anyone who opposed them and destroying their temples the moment they had enough numbers to get away with it. Early-christian rome was rife with street warfare between christian mobs and non-christian sects. In many cases the troops had to be sent in.3. The dead sea scrolls wasn't remarkable for surviving destruction by the Romans, it was remarkable for surviving destruction by other jews (including christians).4. There was no fluke. Christianity became the dominant religion because late-stage rome presented a perfect target for a jewish takeover, and christianity was the only jewish sect willing to take in non-jews, which eventually gave them a numerical advantage.> Now the New Testament makes predictions which turned out to be true:> Truly I tell you, not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down.> When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near. Both of those predictions are practically certain. "Eventually this building will get destroyed and this city will be involved in a war." You could say that about almost any city in history and be correct.> In The War Of The Jews, much ink is spilled ridiculing the poor residents of besieged Jerusalem who, lacking food, turned to cannibalism. This is just one, but there are numerous other equally fucked up examples. It's a stretch to call that a prediction, but again, pretty common occurance in history.> It is proposed that Christianity succeeded in Rome because it contained within it two messages. For the patricians, it was a celebration of the power of Rome to vanquish all enemies, torture them to death, and then rewrite history to make them the villains. For the plebeians, it was a useful ideology which would make them more yielding and slave-like.Christianity succeeded because the romans created a multi-cultural society of religious tolerance then invited the jews in. The jews used religious tolerance to take power, then they trashed it and banned all other religions.

@Eiregoat @cjd @bronze @nobullyplz @mrsaturday > 1. ... Early christianity was almost exclusively a jewish movement. And the Jews themselves were thoroughly Hellenised by that point, with their main literature consisting primarily of Greek myths and philosophy. That's why Philo of Alexandria for example, considered the preeminent Jewish philosopher, was for all intents and purposes a Platonist, and used Platonic philosophy to backwards rationalise a coherent theology into the BuyBull. Basically no Jews even spoke Hebrew at that point, which is why the Hebrew language had to be reinvented in the 19th century as part of Zionist propaganda. Even the oldest complete copy of the OT is in Koine Greek (Septuagint) from the 3rd and 4th centuries, with the oldest complete Hebrew copy being from 11th century Russia (Masoretic text). At that point Hebrew wasn't a spoken language at all anymore, but something limited exclusively to a handful of Rabbinical scholars. The textual differences between the Greek and Hebrew copies of the OT, as well as the Syrian (Peshitta), Samaritan versions, and the Dead Sea Scrolls are substantial, indicating that there were several competing narratives of the OT depending on the sect in question. Even the Torah as it's understood has zero evidence of widespread adoption by Judeans until after the mid 2nd century BCE, with most people prior to and for centuries afterward being primarily Pagan and following various versions of Canaanite religion including Yahweh monolatry (polytheism with particular focus on Yahweh worship). Christinanity itself was also very diverse, with literally hundreds of different competing versions/lineages of Christinanity existing (so-called "Gnostics"), until roughly the 3rd century when the Pauline/Constantinian version (ie. the Gentile Christinanity) began violently persecuted the others into virtual extinction.2. Early christians were also incredibly violent...Here's just a short list of examples from the first few centuries of Christinanity's predominance.https://churchandstate.org.uk/2016/06/christian-atrocities-three-centuries-of-pagan-persecution/One of the most poignant examples of the true character of Christinanity is the case of Hypatia of Alexandria, whose story was inverted to fabricate the myth of Saint Catherine in order to make the perpetrators look like the victims and vice versa. That's a pattern that gets repeated ad nauseam throughout church history.https://www.laphamsquarterly.org/roundtable/killing-hypatiahttps://www.patheos.com/blogs/secularspectrum/2016/03/when-saints-go-missing-do-they-make-a-sound/3. The dead sea scrolls wasn't remarkable for surviving destruction by the Romans, it was remarkable for surviving destruction by other jews (including christians).Bingo! Same with the Nag Hammadi Library. In all likelihood these were deliberately hidden away to prevent their being destroyed by inter Judeo-Christinane sectarian violence.>> Now the New Testament makes predictions...Prophesy in the original context had very little to do with predicting the future. It is what's called "ex eventu", meaning "after the fact", and was used as a way of backwards rationalising catastrophic events to blame it on people's impiety (like when Christinanes routinely claim that floods, earthquakes etc are because of Pagans/liberals/<insert people they don't like>). It's part of an entire centuries long tradition of Jewish apocalyptic prophesies infused with themes and symbolism from Canaanite mythology that also formed the foundations for Christinanity, albeit in a heavily distorted form. The Jewish priesthood contemporary to this cult considered it an abomination rife with psychotic lunatics akin to the kind of people today who stand at the urban street corners wearing sandwich boards about how the "End is nigh!" and spew fire and brimstone style BuyBull quotes with a megaphone.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merkabah_mysticism
