@beemoh Not sure, but there is an aphorism (which I will paraphrase) which is something like...Technology starts as magic, then become normal, and then becomes invisible....

@ChrisMayLA6 @beemoh I think 'technology' is still a useful word, but needs nuance to distinguish 'Big Tech', say, from humane and social use of technology. As to our relationship to technology, Douglas Adams wrote:"I’ve come up with a set of rules that describe our reactions to technologies:1. Anything that is in the world when you’re born is normal and ordinary and is just a natural part of the way the world works.2. Anything that’s invented between when you’re fifteen and thirty-five is new and exciting and revolutionary and you can probably get a career in it.3. Anything invented after you’re thirty-five is against the natural order of things." https://archive.org/details/salmonofdoubthit0000adam_s5i4/page/94/mode/2up?q=%22reactions+to+technologies%22 (The salmon of doubt, 2002)#technology

@foldworks @ChrisMayLA6 @beemoh Sounds like a play down of the risk of tech bro tech based tech fascism, which is covering our hands and mouths across the world. UK check out VPN stories, then US obviously - duh. Tech bro billionaire tech fascism is a thing, is the big thing, is what's happening.Be warned, feel warned, get ready.

@kevinrns @ChrisMayLA6 @beemoh I don't think anyone is downplaying the risks (or dark sides) of technology, especially on fedi where I found #enshittification and #TESCREALI use a wide-ranging definition of technology, not just high technology: writing, clothing, monetary systems, hand washing with soap, etc.As Ivan #illich Marshall #McLuhan and others have noted: we shape our tools, and our tools shape us. We need to be aware of who's doing what, why, and--most importantly--who's benefitting.
