I can't continue to watch a Let's Play because it'll spoil something in case I ever play the game, yet there's no way I can ever ever ever play the game it's just hopeless. Do I give up and watch it? I can't afford to do anything but watch other people having fun...

@cy if you have ADHD like me you can watch it and then when you eventually play the game in a year or two you'll have forgotten all of it! Sometimes I'll watch a video essay on "why (game) is good" to figure out if it's worth my time, then eventually play it.But if that doesn't work, maybe you can watch the game you want, perhaps you can try a sequel later? Or enjoy the story in LP form and enjoy the gameplay yourself later?

@cy I'm always interested in the idea of making my own knock-off games to scratch the same itch, there might be indie games out there that are inspired by the original media!

Ah man, if only I had the kind of ADHD that could forget anything I saw. I can't afford a computer capable of playing most of these games, even if I wasn't totally put off by a game being closed source. To say nothing of NVidia's market manipulation making graphics cards impossible to find and/or afford. Haven't played a game since like... um... 2004 maybe? It's just ridiculous. What I really want is to record the gameplay and provide entertaining commentary, but running a game and OBS at the same time requires an even beefier computer!I'd also like to make open source games that followed along certain gameplay styles, but mostly to be more interactive and participatory than any closed source game, like with player created quests and in-game modding and stuff. What kind of itches are you looking to scratch?

@cy I've been thinking of making an open source farming sim like Stardew Valley/etc. but could continue being expanded on and including more life sim aspects over time. I just don't have time. 🫠IDK if it's any more cost effective but PS4 and PS5 have streaming support built in, and those can be cheaper than a gaming PC, albeit not all games are on those. But I streamed Death Stranding 2 and other games that way.

Uggh, yeah I just can't stand Sony and their "bully people ruthlessly imprisoning them at every opportunity" policy. Really I can't justify buying a console because it won't do anything to make my life better, just provide a small comfort and waste time. I need to focus on getting involved with my local community... and with creating a local community to get involved with. It's still frustrating that all this pretty stuff is too much trouble to bother with, but I can't give up hope that... that I'll find someone to do it with, or something.
