upgraded the homeserver with a 2TB NVME for lancache and some files which need fast access and wanted to try XFS... XFS did not want me to try it, ended up just going with ext4 and using writeback cache because whatever.

tried setting up XFS 3 times and each time it would break the storage controller in a way that caused the nvme to either show as defective or just disappear completely.

@tk@bbs.kawa-kun.com yeah i'm not sure myself what was happening, it would throw some very weird IO errors and even if mkfs worked it would refuse to mount it, either due to superblock errors or because the filesystem was dirty, ext4 worked fine so i'll just blame xfs.

@tk@bbs.kawa-kun.com i kinda doubt it, i pulled the nvme out of a working system that was previously using btrfs with zero errors, smart looks great as well, what i wouldn't rule out is a hardware / firmware bug in this mainboard though.even if the nvme fails, theres a reason i use writeback cache on it, the data is mostly just cache.
