In my husband's Chinese study group they play this game where they try to make up characters that do not exist, and see if the others notice. When we were talking about the LLMs picking stocks we decided to find out if an LLM could do this task.*I* thought it did a good job. But I'm illiterate in Chinese. He's not. This demonstration more than anything else helped him to understand the limits of the system.

The game itself is hilarious. You win if the other person goes to look up the character. There are some unspoken rules about what makes a "good" fake and this isn't it.

@futurebird Reminds me of Xu Bing's Book from the Sky. All the characters are made up from the different radicals.
