You see, Mastodon is just one of my possible software projects that interact with the wider Fediverse through a protocol called #ActivityPub. There are many other projects you can use, Mastodon isn't the only one, nor was it the first. Pretending it is either of those things is doing a huge disservice to all the people who made the Fediverse what it is.

@Archie8 That reminds me that I do have a bicycle to fix. Will have to substitute the sandwiches with noodle casserole, though. There’s a nice Scandinavian word for it: #hygge. The German #Gemütlichkeit comes close, but is not quite the same thing. The English #cozy works. Mastodon sure is a cozy place.

@Archie8My last smartphone with a cracked screen was a Xiaomi Pocophone F1. It actually had two screens that cracked, because it was designed to let them crack: thin, bendable, glass protruding on four corners, and the rubber protector thingy coming off if you look at it too hard. Even with a much beefier sleeve after replacing the screen, the first drop broke the screen again.Now I have a Shiftphone, which has a tiny tiny frame around the screen, survived multiple falls without scratch and gives me the choice of Android, /e/OS or LineageOS (and a few more), with updates for many more years than most mainstream phones, so I don't have the latest hardware but always the latest software. Oh, and it's repairable. And they also sell used phones.
