Ugh. I’ve stayed at APA hotels before because they were good value. They’re off the list now.https://mstdn.jp/@unseenjapan/114921729627609241

@piepants I read the article.I mean, the 1st half is complaining they're successful at business, which seems an odd criticism. They buy land, own their hotels and make profit?!? 😱The other part...i have previously stayed in APA a few times and I've never seen said book. Not saying it doesn't happen, but personally I've not seen it.I don't stay in APA for other reasons nowadays though.

@Haikyoneko the first half to me read more like background on the company rather than a complaint.I stayed at a couple when I first came to Japan in 2018 because they were cheap. These days, they never seem to be the best value when I’m traveling anyway.

@piepants it seemed weird though, because the purpose of the article is to criticise APA. It's actually written as if it a criticism, although it's not.But yeah, the owner really is a right wing nutter. Apparently the books are hidden in the draws. APA is worth avoiding for various reasons. This story broke on the BBC in 2017 though.I have a severe distrust of unseen Japan, so I'll always double check anything of theirs that I have the misfortune of reading.
