There's a huge plume of flying insects over the trees a couple of gardens away this evening. Any ideas what they might be?#insects #flies #Hampshire

@spacemagick are they the thing we were always worried about but couldn’t quite put our finger on what it was? Second question: are you still alive?

@spacemagick likewise, all I can hear is the buzz of insects.

@spacemagick if they're green and smell bad, they're midges. if they're black and make noise, i am not sure, dark or black an silent then it's just gnats. Sometimes mosquitos flock like that but i haven't seen that where there was no water. The last time i interacted with a flock of mosquitos i got bit 113 times (we counted with a sharpie) in 10 minutes outside, near the Gulf (louisiana)
