       Someone scolded me in the comments of my latest video because I use DaVinci Resolve to edit all my videos. I was told that I needed to "make some sacrifices" and use a FOSS alternative.But truthfully, if DaVinci Resolve is a top-of-the-line industrial kitchen, every other video editor is a Fisher-Price kitchen playset by comparison.That is to say: there are no "alternatives" to Resolve. Not even Adobe Premier counts as an alternative.

       @gardiner_bryant Use FOSS because you want to contribute to free software. Use it because it's the best tool for the job, and because you like it. Use it because you value the freedom it provides, in all the ways it provides it. But don't use it to sacrifice "for the cause."Down that path lies burnout, disillusionment, and free software absolutism that ends up hurting "the cause" because you build up so many callouses from FOSS paper cuts you can't empathize with the pain of new users.
