@pony@blovice.bahnhof.cz Hey, at least it's viable to replace trolleybuses with busesIn Vilnius, the route numbers of some bus routes and trolleybus routes collide, so if you're not looking at vehicle color/whether it has pickups, and only look at the number you can get into the wrong one. This has been an issue for years and nothing has been changed.

@ignaloidas lol what. The transit authority (not the transit company itself but the dedicated agency that plans the routes and integration) here loves to renumber trolleybus lines from the original bus number range to this 50-something range, which is incredibly stupid[1] and also I’m not quite sure how are they going to fit in there if the plan is to actually run trolleybuses on a third or even more of all bus lines eventually. [1] like when they replaced the airport bus, the original line number was printed in virtually any official or unofficial tourist guide for the last 20 years.

@pony@blovice.bahnhof.cz It is what it isAnd yeah, while ideally you'd keep the numbers the same, renumbering to a unused range is still better than shit like this

@ignaloidas ok, having the same numbering scheme for two different modes of transport that is just BUSES and TROLLEYBUSES is some massive galactic brain moment lmao

@ignaloidas lol i love this, so the line 1, both, depart from the station and then go to completely different part of vilnius based on the one you managed to get on, lol

@pony@blovice.bahnhof.cz at least they depart from different platforms in the station, but there are some stops with a single platform where both trolleybus and bus routes with the same number go from

@pony@blovice.bahnhof.cz true that, though I think the front is consistent? but not consistent enough for this for sure

@ignaloidas so what would they do if they really had to replace a trolleybus with a regular bus, like, that's something that happens even to places like brno with a sizeable fleet of almost 150 vehicles

@pony@blovice.bahnhof.cz doesn't happenthere's a fair bit of vehicles in reserve, I think 10% is the requirement, and for repairs or some other stuff where trolleybus routes have to be re-routed around some part, they use trolleybuses with some battery (I think it's like ~2-3km max)

@pony@blovice.bahnhof.cz yeah, in summer the routes are less dense than in winter, and 14Tr's are getting replaced, last summer they stil drove, but this summer it's all newer ones unless there's some issues with them. I think next winter is their last.

@ignaloidas By the way, do trolleybus drivers have to know Lithuanian nowadays? I remember once a long time ago (like maybe 15 years), my wife (native lithuanian) almost failed to buy tickets from one driver who would only speak russian. Nothing special, just like 2 regular adult tickets. @pony

@ignaloidas oh no, i would still want to see a 14Tr without having to go too far (or Ukraine which, well, I am not *that* afraid to go to, but probably not just to see a trolleybus)
