@DarkMahesvara @Ronnie21093 11 million was their startup funds I think, which they seemingly wasted

@Arkana @DarkMahesvara @Ronnie21093 Reading between the lines of VShojo's Wikipedia page, it was initially funded by one or more of founders and maybe some angels, the CEO was "a member of the team that founded Twitch" which got a 2014 all cash $970 million buyout from Amazon.com. Even after three rounds of funding and almost certainly dilution such a guy might have gotten a significant payout.Debuted in November 2020 when the demand for content would have been fairly high from COVID lock downs, Then the only outside founding round of $11 million happened in early 2022. Entirely possible all involved in that expected COVID type numbers would continue, Intel for example did and is now all to close to VShojo's fate, albeit they're not likely to steal their employees' compensation or charity funding.Pretty ugly, it is alleged by various vtubers arrears go back to 2024 and 2023, the latter resulting in one or more talents departing. Also claims that others including Mint Fantôme were going to join but their debuts never happened.Fairly typical of many startup failures; would "streaming residuals" be part of what they were being paid by VShojo? As in, why would IronMouse and Kson continue a year plus or minus if they weren't getting paid at all??https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VShojo

@ThatWouldBeTelling @DarkMahesvara @Ronnie21093 I believe Vshojo was basically just a merch and advertising company. So they would still have gotten their regular streaming income, but Vshojo would take a portion of merch and sponsor money

@Arkana @DarkMahesvara @Ronnie21093 "Residuals" are per a quick Brave Search check and common sense money made after a "first run" or whatever is the equivalent for a Twitch stream. You might compare it to an book writing advance followed by royalties, "Biden" is getting a million dollars a word advance for "Son of a bitch, I don’t remember a damn thing."So "talent first" Vshojo was stiffing their talent for relatively small amounts of money, "reruns" essentially, thus the long drawn out process finished by Iron Mouse timing out on the huge misappropriation of half a million dollars. This implies the company has the Twitch account(s) and was passing the initial proceeds through. All sorts of accounting stuff including taxes there, it makes sense to have an honest third party do that.Per TVTropes, "Everybody Hates Mathematics: Everyone in VShojo does, at least, as noted by Hime in her debut stream." Also says Mint Fantome had been signed up for a year without a debut.https://x.com/McAdooGordon/status/1948428693992292685https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/WebAnimation/VShojoThe Official closing announcement on Xwitter: https://x.com/VShojo/status/1948442574722924778#m

@ThatWouldBeTelling @DarkMahesvara @Ronnie21093 Only ironmouse gave them her full twitch earnings because she didn't want to deal with them. The others only had a merch and sponsorship split

@Arkana @DarkMahesvara @Ronnie21093 Per Wikipedia with citations I didn't follow too far (most are of course streaming, and I usually do't do video), there's a few other talents who were owed streaming money and decided to tap out before today's announcement.Would take a lot of digging to get a whole picture, and this is likely worth a forensic accounting, but that won't happen outside of a criminal investigation (will Trump make vtubing great again???). Makes sense, suppose you're owed four or low five figures, then Ironmouse reveals her designated charity is owed a cool half a million ... you are very unlikely to get any part of your smaller amount outside of bankruptcy court.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VShojo
