       look, you need to understand that xwayland rootful is a thing and has been for a while. you can just run a full screen rootful xwayland, lock yourself in it, and run i3 or xfce or something in it.literally none of this screenshot is #wayback (even though it is in wayback), and this is why wayback will work: because xwayland already works.        @dramforever wayback is a awesome tool that makes the process smooth and convenient and that does still provide a lot of value, effectively a wrapper around tech that already exists.

       (2/2) sure, not *everything* works.* we don't have multi-monitor in xwayland yet, so we need to do that.* libinput config is not there, so tablets, touchpad config and some setxkbmap stuff don't work* and there will be work needed to make it a drop-in replacement for /usr/bin/X* ...* xf86-* drivers will never work. sorry.i just want you to know to not underestimate wayback just because it's only been a month, because the fire was always burning, since xwayland existed, not june.
