What is the technical term for this type of brake? (I assume some kind of enclosed disc brake, but AI slop has consumed the world) Update to the update: Ooh, not a drum brake... it's a band brake. #BikeTooter

@ai6yr You do know that your current bike tinkering trajectory will eventually leading to building a new wheel with a modern hub that has real parts available, right?I've got a stand and tools when you are ready.

@W6KME I am not buying any replacement parts for this until I have dissected it completely to see if it's worth it to re-use the controller and hub, for this reason.

@W6KME You haven't lived life fully unless you're going 20 mph on an e-bike with bad brakes(unless you're the guy I saw going downhill here on an ebike at 45 mph and not even a helmet)

@tomjennings @W6KME The people going fast as motorcycles, on e-motorcycles/unlimited speed e-bikes, without helmets... surprised there are not MORE injuries. (my son, a paramedic, went on a call where a kid pretty much severed his leg crashing into a car on those things..)
