@futurebird It's "to go" if you ordered it yourself at the counter, "takeout" if you called in or ordered it on the web and then went to pick it up.

@futurebird usually if it reaches home it's "takeaway", otherwise it's "to-go". Berliners have a full "to-go" culture - two courses on the subway if we have to.

@futurebird i mean, i don't order out that much, but i would always refer to it as "takeout." Based on the results of the poll: Was i wrong?

@futurebird Here in Brazil, there's a reasonable chance people will call it "drive through" (English expression in a Portuguese sentence), possibly misspelled, even if people are not driving through anything

@futurebird I voted takeout, but I think I'd call it to-go if it's fast food. The difference being that it's designed for that, I guess?

@futurebird If I order the food from elsewhere and then go to the restaurant to pick it up and go somewhere else to eat it, that's take out. If I am at the restaurant and order food to take somewhere else to eat it, that's to-go.

@futurebird I have no reason to call it takeaway, but I often have to correct myself and call it takeout, which is what I grew up with and what everyone around me says.I am slightly confused, because when I order, I say "to go", but what I've ordered is takeout...

@futurebird as an adjective the food is "to go" but as a noun the food is "takeout," to me, so i selected both options
