       Been suffering using kodi and vlc on a shitty htpc hooked up to an sftp server via fast ethernet (not gigabit) I built with an amd compu from 10 years ago and a motherboard I bought from a friend for 5 bucks. Yes the solution was telling kodi to use mpv. Every time.I love VLC and its aura as a legendary free software project but the verdict is clear. If you're using a cpu that you bought for less than 20 bucks don't bother.
