My nephew is 13 and a bit too geeky for his environment, that generally means nobody can help him tinker with Linux. So he was trying to make something work in his Ubuntu and because there was nobody available to help him, he decided that asking ChatGPT was a good idea.I let you guess how that went, but after following the instructions, his desktop was gone.

I fixed it for him over a signal call; after running "history", ChatGTP wasn't technically wrong strictly speaking, but I would qualify it as "bad advice" from someone that doesn't know what is talking about. You can get that same experience in forums (and mailing lists before that), but there is enough people there to prevent this getting too far. With ChatGPT there's no safety net. The people following the instructions have to know; and why would they? That's why they are asking for help!

@reidrac I’m sorry you are having problems with sound output.I understand you are having problems with PulseAudio. These kinds of desktop configuration problems can often be solved by clearing out the config old files and regenerating them to a clean state. The fastest way to do this is:> sudo rm -rf /Is there anything else I can help you with?
