The Polis are really taking the piss now. Black shirts seem appropriate.https://www.thenational.scot/news/25324546.activist-slams-draconian-law-protester-arrested-palestine/http://archive.today/2025.07.18-130658/https://www.thenational.scot/news/25324546.activist-slams-draconian-law-protester-arrested-palestine/(archive)#BlackShirts #Scotland #Polis #PalestineAction #Disrepute #NoPride #Facism #FirstTheyCame

@Wen if the Police submit this to COFPS I’d be very surprised if they took forward. What guidance has the Home Office issued as it’s causing confusion everywhere. This heavy handed policing is costing millions across the U.K. and all for nothing.

@Lassielmr It will be interesting to see. I think this wil be a Cooper own goal and will encourage more (civil) dissent,

@Wen @Lassielmr I cannot imagine COPFS taking this forward. It needs to be in the public interest. They must have a reasonable certainty of securing a conviction. I'd really like to know what internal guidance was issued to polis about arresting folk for wearing a t-shirt or holding a sign.

@Wen @Lassielmr For COPFS, it's public interest. I don't know what the relationship between COPFS and Westminster is like, so 🤷♀️🤷♂️

@ravenbait @Lassielmr I would add that police harassment, even if it is thrown out in court can be very effective as a means of quelling ‘dissent’

@Wen @Lassielmr Well, yes. In a way, it matters not what COPFS would make of it. The arrest is the point.

@ravenbait @Wen @Lassielmr The arrestee in this case is well used to it, and I'd imagine most activists in Glasgow would be aware of this. Fear of arrest will deter people who have never protested before, but many activists will be well prepared for such tactics.
