I'm doing game development for just over 2 years now and so far I've published 7 games on iOS (6 AppStore, rest AltSore) and 2 on AndroidCurrently I am almost done with a PC RPG that will be listed on Steam and also still have a 2D game ready and waiting all for free without investmentsMy games may not be the greatest but at least I do have something to show for compared to so many failed Kickstarter game projects that rised I don't know how much for nothingEvery game gets a bit better!

A thing a lot of developers keep telling me is:"You need at least a few million to create a good game"And they often if not always point to the "custom made assets"This is wrong. For a studio like Rockstar, yes ofc! But for indie devs it's totally fine to use (free) store assets for your game since they are made for that99% of the player will not reconize assets from the store if you create a good gameDon't let devs scare you away with that kinda bs 😉

@stux I remember playing with writing a 3D game. I spend all my time on creating custom asserts in blender. That was the whole game for me 😂

@stux I saw part of the recent podcast with Grant Abbitt, and his advice for Game Devs was "Use Asset Packs!"There are plenty of free or cheap Packs.

@stux I mean, I'd love it if someone would bring me a wheelbarrow full of £££, to make them some funky custom models...but they can make their game without them - leaving me more time to make my game! :D

@stux I can still remember playing text adventures on the C64. There was no graphics, no assets, just pure story. So you don't need cutting edge graphics to make a good or great game. It might help but it can also work without when the game itself is original and captivating.

@stux I vaguely remember something like PUBG, a very successful game by any metric, being made mostly, if not entirely, with assets from the asset store. I hope that's true, as this will only confirm this toot.
