Exploring my terminal emulator options. I like Konsole, but heard a lot of praise for Terminology, like displaying images in the terminal (which should be the norm these days). Unfortunately such features don't play nice with tmux, which is practically essential to me at this point. What emulators do you all use/prefer?#Linux

@negativeprimes Konsole can draw Sixel graphics. That's the protocol used by some DEC terminals in the 1980s.I believe one of the other terminal emulators has introduced a more modern graphics protocol, though, and I don't know if/when Konsole will support that.

@argv_minus_one@mastodon.sdf.org @negativeprimes@urusai.socialI believe one of the other terminal emulators has introduced a more modern graphics protocolAFAIR that would be Kitty and I think it's exclusive to it, but as far as I can see, a lot of software devs took a liking to it and it's supported by a lot of software.I use Alacritty patched with sixel support myself, and st-flexipatch with sixel support enabled in Xorg. Both are a bit buggy, but I can live with that. Yeah, it's probably buggy with terminal multiplexers, but I don't use any — prefer having multiple terminal windows open.I use normal Alacritty for software that doesn't support sixel.
