       Feeling a bit of FOMO from refusing to have a Facebook account for years. It's weird to ask the fedi about this, but does having a facebook account actually matter in 2025?Ironically I think Facebook Marketplace is what I'm missing out the most on because many people refuse to use anything else... 😮‍💨

       @gabriel I'm lucky that my extended family decided to use SMS group chats in place of Facebook, even if some of them still use it.I don't know much about Facebook Marketplace. I still see plenty of ads on my local craigslist, even if they items they're selling require a bit of a drive.

       @gabriel I had to rejoin after years of absence just for marketplace. Also my neighborhood has a group chat which is good to be a part of, but I access it through Beeper so I don't have to use the application from Facebook or have a Facebook app or messenger app on my phone. There is no reason to be on Facebook other than to buy used stuff or farm animals. Maybe if you have a small business it is helpful for visibility.

       @xianc78 @gabriel it killed off CL in most of the world, especially with normies hearing about scammers and "craigslist killers" and the sleezy side of CL taking a big hit.Sam Hyde still uses it to find actors infamously though. That's how he got people for Extreme Peace.

       @gabriel Marketplace, if you don't mind the variable quality of sellers/buyers, and maybe a few groups who refuse to use their own platforms.Discord is the one that should have absolutely no reasons to use it, yet people keep trying to make it more useful than it is.
