@jima So uh I was working decades ago with a large defense contractor who had their own internal networking testbed that served some of the same purposes that our testbed, Emulab, did. Many of their teams much preferred to use ours, instead of the one they had developed, and their developers were a bit peeved about thisI learned the reason for this preference during a site visitTo define experiments in Emulab, you wrote a script in Tcl, which kinda ew.To define experiments in their internal tool, you described network topologies using Excel. Somehow. And I assume lost half your remaining sanity points in the process.

@ricci Arrived Monday after my flight around 1500.Walked out Thursday at 0930.The COO had also chewed me out three times just for asking about payroll, I'm talking spittle flying, fuck this, fuck that, get to fuckin' work.Fastest I have ever walked before.

@ricci I taught somebody about tab autocompletion on the command line once, when I was helping him with a task. He was very impressed, then immediately went back to typing out every long path manually. It was so painful 😩
