Before you advocate #Linux as an alternative for #Windows, it has to be fit for purpose first. This requires understanding and empathy for your (potential) users, which I am not sure a large chunk of the community is capable of.

@voltagex Linux have become the early Macintosh users of today. Declaring their system as "better" when it simply didn't meet the needs of 95% of users, and then screaming in impotent rage as the world used Windows. I've seen this story before.

The only place where Windows is more popular is in the "gamer" desktop space, and its losing ground there too.

Same goes for the Fediverse (or, as Mastodonters call it, Mastodon). If they don't care for the aspects of freedom and ownership, please just let them fester in their own pool of garbage.I don't want to convert everyone to the systems I use, because the systems I use I have chosen because they work well for me, they align with my desires. Chasing trends and popularity would only destroy these features I like. Its just so silly to think popularity is the most important aspect in life.
