hopefully? rsyslog is a robust and carefully optimized log system. it exists for ages and is still alive and working fine.

whoa... that's some totally rotten bullshit. somebody bought the project, I suspect. but well, R.I.P. the normal rsyslog, that worked fine. I hope somebody makes a fork.

@iron_bug@friendica.ironbug.org @selea@social.linux.pizza Actually some machine learning techniques like anomaly detection algorithms, SVM or even neural networks can be really helpful in log processing. I don't know whether rsyslog developers use the term AI just to make these techniques sound sexier or they're really going to use LLMs which will be a security disaster.Anyway I would stay away from rsyslog since they've made this announce, just in case.

I don't think "AI" is of any use, for the first. it's unreliable trash generation and this is the end of story. snd the second thing to consider - the KISS principle. a log daemon should collect and keep logs and nothing else.

@iron_bug@friendica.ironbug.org @selea@social.linux.pizza I prefer the term "machine learning", there is no any "AI" still. The question is are they going to use local ML algorithms or cloud based LLMs. In the first case, there's nothing inherently wrong with it, in the second... well, rsyslog devs would be better to go fuck themselves.
