I disagree. FFX was amazing, especially when it released. I get it was a little linear and kind of a simple story, but it's presentation and characters were great.

@nozaki sorry, man, it isn’t a bad game but it’s not great, either. I played most FF games long after they were new but could get into them anyway, but FFX was a bit boring and had an annoying protagonist.

I was really into the series most of my life, though XIII soured me on it a bit, along with XV's 12ish years of development. X was amazing for it's time, it came out pre-9/11 and made FFIX which released just they year before look terrible in comparison. The PS2 was such a powerhouse and FFX was closely tied to it. But even stripping away the context I think it's good as is, but a little too linear. Maybe the eternal grindfest of JRPGs just isn't for you.

@nozaki eh, I’d already played through all the previous FF games with American releases, done the white mage challenge on FFI, and played a few other JRPGs. I wouldn’t say I’m a fan of grinding, but I’m not totally averse to it. Honestly, part of the problem may be that the aesthetic didn’t click with me, but maybe I’ll give it another shot someday.

That's interesting, the aesthetic is what really hooked me. I don't remember if it was a release title, but I remember it being my first game for the PS2 and my mind being blown.

@nozaki also my first PS2 game, but that was probably 2005 when I got a PS2 slim, so needless to say, very different experience. I had a GameCube, so most of my JRPGs were from previous generations in those years (PS1 and SNES, mostly).

while both versions of her are quite good, i do recommend picking up the other version of Yuna if you can - blue makes for a much much more versatile and stable deck (mainly due to its preponderance of counterspells, which im sure you're familiar with). But you're absolutely right about green being stable, its by far the best color in EDH outside of competition tables. White is..... less good, but still brings utility. It's just hard to make work on its own imo
