@jwz I’m unable to load www.jwz.org from my home IP 72.86.151.183. Did I trigger an automated ban on your system?

@josh I would really like to know because I see *a lot* of these /null URLs and I assumed it was a poorly-written AI scraper.

@jwz Oh fascinating. I load your site in Reeder (https://apps.apple.com/us/app/reeder-classic/id1529445840) and Ivory (https://apps.apple.com/us/app/ivory-for-mastodon-by-tapbots/id6444602274) on iOS exclusively. The URL for your site in Reeder is cdn.jwz.org/blog/feed/I see no simple way to determine the url request. Let me try to proxy the phone and see if I can find the offending app.

@jwz No luck proxying. I can't get past the initial CONNECT state of the TLS connection to see the requesting URL.

@josh @jwz You could try something like Proxyman https://proxyman.com, and with a cert the proxy supplies, you should be able to introspect those requests. I used to use Charles for this kind of thing, but Proxyman is nicer to use as a native app.
