@fuzzysystem @gnh1201 that's a printing of the KJV that had a bunch of commentary in it that popularised the dispensationalist theology in which the modern state of israel is important for god's prophecies, a later consequence of this being the armageddon lobby.

@fuzzysystem @BleachChan @gnh1201 @ceo_of_monoeye_dating that is the most important edition of the bible as it's the one that's been used for most of the english speaking world, and particularly in america. there is also a substantial group of particularly american christians that will only use the KJV and shun modern translations as demonic.it doesn't have cutting edge scholarship and textual criticism, but that is irrelevant to conservative christians because if the modern translations are better then that means the bible their grandparents used was flawed, which if you believe in a god that acts in history is a contradiction.

It was also the translation used by Cyrus Scofield; but Scofield’s evil wasn’t the Biblical text itself - but rather his extensive “study” notes, which feigned authentic objective scholarship while actually being zionist heresy. Traditional Christians saw through it easily, but Scofield had enormous financial and media backing which bought its way deep into America’s collective headspace.
