Yes, there is a Hurricane Season. Everyone knows about it except the trump administration's head of FEMA.Here is how the very active 2024 Atlantic hurricane season played out. It featured 18 named storms, 11 hurricanes, and 5 major hurricanes. Driven by exceptionally warm sea surface temperatures (SSTs) in the tropical Atlantic and Caribbean Sea.Animations at https://svs.gsfc.nasa.gov/5468https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlantic_hurricane_season1/n

The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to Nov 30, Pacific from May 15 to Nov 30.Based on a 30-year period from 1991 to 2020, an average Atlantic hurricane season has 14 named storms, 7 hurricanes, and 3 major hurricanes (Category 3-5 on the Saffir-Simpson scale). The first named storm typically forms in mid to late June, the first hurricane tends to form in early to mid-August, and the first major hurricane forms in late August or early Sept. https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/climo/2/n

Sea surface temperatures (SSTs) remain near record highs this year, although they are slightly lower than those in 2024.Higher sea surface temperatures cause stronger development and rapid intensification of hurricanes.https://climatereanalyzer.org/clim/sst_daily/?dm_id=world24/n

@AkaSci Kinda makes “Brownie, you’re doing a heck of a job” seem downright quaint. I shudder to think of what type of country we’ll have left when this orange cudgel gets done breaking shit.
