@SoylentGroyper In the American political system, it's only ever worked once(Whigs to Republicans), and that required it to completely replace and kill off the other party. There is absolutely zero chance of an Elon party killing off the Trump GOP. If anything, what Trump did in displacing Jeb/Roimney is closer to pulling that off than Elon could dream of.

@ArdainianRight another flaw in this idea, is that Musk's political ideas are not what is needed. "give people a voice", what is this supposed to mean? If he wanted to make a difference, he would attack welfare, social security. He does attack big spending in the new bill, yes, but I've not heard him name specifics - and as soon as a politician names specific cuts, there is an outcry, there are campaigns against him etc. Musk is underestimating the difficulty, and it would lead to people wasting a lot of effort and money.

@ArdainianRight 3rd party isn't a realistic goal in the US. The election laws are written for the republican party, the Democrat party, and every other party combined, and even then the 3rd party laws are usually about qualifying to be in the race.
