       be nice to any firefighters in  your life - or that you may meet. (and their family members)This is a stressful time of year anyway (fireworks setting stuff on fire, heat, mandatory overtime and deployments)and now with the incident that happened today....  what often happens is firefighters from neighboring regions (and maybe beyond considering the magnitude of this incident) will come to fill in shifts for the Coeur d'Alene fire department so the Coeur d'Alene members can stay with the fallen and their families until the funeral/memorial, while firefighters from other agencies fill in the ranks.

       whenever I give station tours the thing that kids are the most excited about, after the rigs, is that in the kitchen there are THREE refrigerators [one for each shift]  and I always tell the kids "you know what's in every one of these freezers?  ICE CREAM!!"makes those big scary firefighters seem more human 😀 (I've never checked the freezers' contents ahead of time and there's always been ice cream.)
