@Nonilex My husband's aunt recovered from polio in the early 1950s. But decades later, she was debilitated with post-polio syndrome. Viruses can be bastards, and we don't yet know covid may have in store for us. Meantime we continue to learn about the longer-term impacts of other viruses also.

@Nonilex I remember schoolmates using crutches, wearing leg braces, and in wheelchairs from polio. My girlfriend 55 years ago suffered permanent damage from whooping cough. My father-in-law suffered permanent damage from mumps. My uncle died at the age of five from diphtheria.

@Nonilex hell, just ask a farmer about vaccination. Veterinarians aren't likely to suggest not vaccinating dogs, for example, for distemper.

@Nonilex I was in grammar school from 1947-55. Every single student in our large (50+) classes had ALL communicable diseases — I even had pertussis for almost six months, which nearly killed me. The polio vaccine was a true miracle for the scourge it was for thousands. We have almost 80 years of successful history that proves the efficacy of vaccination. We simply cannot let one batshit crazy person, stupidly nominated and wrongly confirmed, affect our health this way. #ResignRFKJr
