One of my kids in robotics camp had this running joke where she'd just randomly do 'outros' and 'intros' like:"Will the motor start? Find out in the next episode of robotics camp!""... And we're back!""Writing code! Let's get right into it!"To which I'd say "WHO are you talking to, Jamie???"But this is, one of those contagious jokes so I'm now constantly saying "And we're back!"

@futurebird Oh totally our household too. We say it when we've derailed a convo by forgetfulness.A friend long ago used "Meanwhile, back at the plastics factory...." for non-sequitors.

Obviously Jamie isn't her real name. I always use fake names for cute stories about my students.

@futurebird (looks around a little nervously) I will often start a class with "Previously on Sally's Psych Class [...]" or "In our last episode of Sally's Psych Class [...]" before reviewing what we went over before. It always gets a giggle or chuckle, and I try not to use it too often to keep as much of the novelty as I can. I guess I'm a bit of a Jamie. 😁

@futurebird in my former role at my job I'd have to make time to run out for lunch at the most hectic point in my day and when I got back as I was walking through the door I'd say, to myself or no one, "And now it's time for Part 2! The dramatic conclusion of As the [Department] Turns!"

@futurebird lol I don’t know if it’s related but raised on YouTube might be a factor. My almost six year old, continuously narrates whatever he’s doing - writing number tables, building his solar system. It’s freakin hilarious! Got told off when I asked ‘who are you talking to??’

@futurebird I like how that sort of thing can become a class joke. Unifying.

@futurebird my five year old will narrate the videos she's pretending to record while playing computer games, sometimes asking "chat" questions. I swear she doesn't get more than a couple hours a week of YouTube content yet she still picked up these new language trends caused entirely by changes in media consumption.Almost makes me wonder if these will become magical incantations that few can remember the purpose of, like saying "bless you" after sneezing, someone will make an embarrassing mistake then say to nobody in particular "chat, am I cooked?"
