@PopulistRight @TrevorGoodchild @judgedread The problem with felonies is that they are expensive to enforce and, after this year’s SCOTUS ruling that the Feds can’t just steamroll over people’s rights using their own processes, this has become much more prohibitive. The upside is that the IRS will have a much tougher time take your stuff and freezing your bank accounts.Once it becomes a criminal case, you’re back to innocent until proven guilty and it becomes much harder to enforce.This is why ICE’s tactics have so dramatically changed now to kabuki theater: the perception of mass raids will be more powerful than the actual prosecution of bosses (which will take years now). It serves to give illegals the perception that the risk isn’t worth it.I know that it’s not as good as what you are proposing (like whores being thrown in jail vs John’s being thrown in jail) but I think this is as good as they can do for now.
