terrible idea: a USB keyboard that takes a SIM card. What's it do? if you get an SMS message with a 6-digit code, it types it.

maybe have a "type that again" button on it, for when the text message comes in before the "enter your 2fa here" page is ready. or maybe you've alt-tabbed over to IRC and just told everyone in #teenmp3z 928422

@foone Prepares another keyboard that sends the owner of your keyboard a text message with a random string of numbers every time I press the button and waits for the frustrated rage quitting.

@pq1r true, but I tend to take a "pray to god, but keep rowing to shore" approach to technical problems.Like, yeah, it shouldn't be this way, but unfortunately it is, and you gotta deal with that

@foone Better idea: keyboard stores the 2FA code into volatile memory until you press a key to type it when its input is desired.Once the code is typed, power to the memory is immediately cut so the code gets permanently lost when the memory discharges.

@foone Phone on a stand, with a program that displays received code as QRs, and a barcode scanner in HID mode, aimed at the phone's screen, in hands-free presentation mode.

@foone iPhone + Mac can let you autofill codes from SMS and itโs amazing. So building it into a keyboard would be too. Until you get political text spam in the middle of typing an important email ๐

@foone I actually don't understand why modern laptops like the Macbook Air doesn't have a sim card slot. It's 2025, let me use cell data without tethering to a phone. It's not like I'm going to put a cell modem in the PCMCIA slot.
