I just saw this on insta. I realized that I never actually bought anything from the high school cafeteria. My mom used to pack my lunch. When I was older - junior/senior I would pack it. So even when I had money in my pocket from working a job, I didn't buy! I went four years without standing in those lines like everyone else.

@neanderthalsnavel cafeteria pizza sucked at the schools i went to but in middle school we could at least get paninis made to order and by high school outside food was available because sophomores and older could leave during lunch and i usually had a friend grab something as a freshman

@neanderthalsnavel the only time I had school lunch was 5th grade and it was basically little tv dinners in the aluminum tray with the foil top, and everyone got the same thing. The best part of it all was that it was served in a building 2 blocks away, so those of us that got it ($2.50/week?) were able to leave the building and run a bit and get some fresh air.

@neanderthalsnavel our pizza wasn't terrible. It did have a very distinct, somewhat pleasant flavor. It was the peanut butter chews that were the bomb, however!
