I am trying to make sense of the Trade Codes in #Traveller. And one of the things that really stands out as confusing me is why all Asteroid worlds sell pharmaceuticals and illegal drugs at a discount.Bonuses to purchase rolls seem to be consistently given for worlds where a given good is produced in large quantities. What medicine and drugs would you dig out of an asteroid? Lithium to treat bipolar disorder is the only thing I can think of.#ttrpg #scifi

@yora There's a really good reason why.https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082869/The code is not indicating that they're manufactured there. It's indicating that you can buy them easily there. Asteroids aren't considered particularly nice places to be. Buying and selling drugs to the people that live there is easy. It's not particularly under the table, just a little bit.You want to buy some drugs? Pop out to the asteroids. Somebody's probably running them out there. Are you headed out to the asteroids? Somebody will probably want you to run some drugs out there and sling some hash at a pretty good cut.Remember, not all trade codes are about local production. They're about local sales.

So annoying when you find obvious and easily backtraceable error in the 2nd edition revised version of a #ttrpg rulebook.Even if you send it in, it's pretty much for certain much too late that it will ever get fixed. 😦 (Mongoose Traveller 2nd edition revised, p 245: Availability for Illegal Drugs has to be for Garden worlds, not High Population worlds."Ga" is selling for cheap without producing, "Hi" is buying at premium even being a producer. Clearly someone slipped from Ga to Hi there.)
