       I think I'm gonna make an 8-bit micro version of VGAPride (my program for displaying pride flags on DOS)Obviously the best form for this to take would be a magazine of type-in BASIC programs

       @foone Or an audio file that we could record to tape and then decode.

       TRS-80 CoCo, Apple II, C64, ZX Spectrum, Atari 8-bits... probably at least one thing acorn/bbc.

       @trevorflowers oh yeah, as a set of tapes for different systems, that'd be sweet too

       @foone C64? Or is that too powerful? (Was it more then 8 bit?)

       @Canageek nah, it's 8-bit. It's got a 6502 for a CPU

       I suspect the C16/Plus 4 would be good ones too, they had excellent colour palettes despite their unpopularity.CoCo will be pretty difficult. The others... maybe dithering will help with the C64 and Spectrum?

       @foone I can already see the program in my head. About 6 lines of commodore basic. That thing let you inline the color codes in the print statements.

       @foone For some systems (looking at you, Apple II), you may even have to fiddle with the NTSC phase/hue to display some flags by "expanding" the pallette. Bug or feature?I wonder if you could even have one flag that becomes another, just by adjusting the phase??Seems like a fun project!

       @foone tbh, I didn't expect the Amstrad CPC to make such a good job of Cool Crab. This output is from Dithertron, so would be hard to make as a type-in

       @foone The Atari 8-bit line would be your best choice as it has a much larger color palette.

       @foone Like so?(Mildly size-optimized; tape file is 169 bytes. Can be extended to other colors by changing the c$ constant, but orange would require dithering, which is a bit more work; also, it could be made nearly fullscreen, but that's quite a bit more complicated too.)
