Please, read the above linked replies before assuming I'm angrily shouting at you when you're already taking action, or asking what on earth I actually suggest we do. I have specific suggestions I'm making, and I'm talking specifically to the people who haven't yet grasped the gravity of the situation. We are all in this together. Let's not argue or be at odds. @davevolek @VulcanTourist @Jennifer I don't know what the right answer is, but it's clear to me that *major* changes need to be made in how we do democracy, and creative solution-oriented thinking like this is something we are in short supply of. In addition to your suggestion of tiered democratic governance, we should take a look at things like ranked-choice voting, proportionate term sharing (you get 30% of the vote? Then you get 30% of the time in office or 30% of the seats), structural changes to our party system to push us away from a 2 party system, changes to our primaries to encourage better responsiveness to the desires of voters, etc.

I think a broken economic system is the root cause for the populism and subsequent fascism we are witnessing today, with excessive concentration of wealth and power leading to a power imbalance that has disenfranchised the voters, who then respond with anger and lashing out, which is redirected at each other instead of the billionaire fat cats.My proposed solution to this is to do away with for-profit businesses altogether, beyond individual proprietorship. Cooperatives are a proven business model which is stable, responsive to worker, consumer, and community needs, returns wealth (and power!) taken from the community back to that same community instead of concentrating it, and reduces or eliminates perverse incentives to manipulate workers, consumers, or the community at large. It does everything the for-profit business model does, except for the formation and sustenance of an oligarchy.

It draws in sociopaths and breeds dictators and fascists.We were finally starting to reform it, with all the so-called DEI initiatives, when Trump coincidentally appeared on the horizon and ultimately threw all of that in the crapper. That was not a coincidence. The One Percent likes the legal system that benefits them. Keeping all that in place unreformed was their entire motivation for having Trump in the White House; everything else is distraction from, and cover for, that.

But on the other hand if you have no real intention of carrying them out, everyone should feel free to discuss such hypotheticals as frequently as anything else they might speculate about online.The way things are going in the US such idle speculation may end up getting you on a watch list but I suspect anyone avoiding corporate social media is going to end up on a watch list sooner or later anyway.

@hadon @haui That's definitely something that needs to be done, and it's better than doing nothing! But what I'm really hoping for is physical intercession. Physically get in the way of these people. Whisk the targeted person away. Provide a distraction. Lock a door, knock a chair over, park a car in the way, swarm them, *something* to at least make these illegal arrests challenging to carry out.
