who needs to reform yourself to more “meaningful” purposes like slaving your life away to a career you hate to prove to others who don’t care about you that you are a hardworking member of society while the government steals your time, attention, soul, body, money and mind. Woops. I had horrible PSSD for 2+ years due to antidepressants (not fully recovered from that) and couldn’t even get horny let alone orgasm and it was so destructive to my sense of self I was a hollow shell of a person.

@afairmaiden Being poor and powerless is what makes someone a lower-class human. Class is the fundamental issue—everything else is secondary. They weren't persecuted in Europe; they were trying to persecute everyone else for enjoying anything good in life. They were ejected from England specifically for burning a Quaker girl at the stake, no doubt because Quakers won't harm anyone, ever, for any reason.Puritans came to the new world to spread their hatred for all things good and fun, and their traditions live on today in the American love for violence and hate for sexual expression, though of course they actually love sexual deviance just so long no one finds out about their personal perversions...

@afairmaiden As much as I understand these things, I still struggle a lot with being repressed and not really coping in good ways since the world has seemingly told me that people like me are disgusting and harmful no matter what and it's taken a huge toll on my health over the years. I really do wish things could be different ; _ ;

@afairmaiden Oh my God, I agree with this so strongly, I could write a book on how much the puritanical nonsense that infects our culture upsets me. "Hypersexualized sex repulsed society" sounds like a contradiction but the fucked up thing is, it's a perfectly accurate description AND it's an oxymoron. We're a culture constantly at war with itself because society is obsessed with sex but also demands people be shamed for being sexual.

@afairmaiden This is all so true and the part about people struggling to be kinky in a healthy way reminds me of those comments I've seen about how we "make nasty kinks our whole personality", and even I've been a little put off by that sort of vibe before, but I've realized that that happens because of how hard society tries to destroy what we are, so some people decided, "No, I'm going to be the bane of the Puritans' existence all day, every day, baby!" and I definitely relate to that feeling.
