       @blueknightfrank @pettanko I've started to come to the conclusion that irony in this manner is a defense mechanism for those who have no ideals or think their ideas so weak that if they were to voice any of them someone would tear them to shreds. Some kind of fear that every single piece of dialogue needs to be written in a way that can't harm the author if ever dissected or discussed. Writing sincerely leaves the writer open to criticism and I guess some are just too weak to handle such a concept.

       @Iffine @blueknightfrank @pettanko I think you have it somewhat backwards.Nihilism and irony are an adaption to a vicious environment. People become afraid to love or think anything genuinely because with that comes some vulnerability that you cannot have in a pool of piranha. This results in weak ideals and an attraction to the safety of snark, irony, pretentiousness, ugliness, blandness.

       @naneko @blueknightfrank @pettanko You have a fair point. I guess it's hard to fully understand in my view since these concepts are alien to me in so many ways. I have views of the concept of fantasy that would make these types question my existence. The last time I ever thought about needing to be "safe" in this manner was as in school when I had the reasonable but pointless worry of being insulted. Sure, when acting as a kid like that, defenses are put up because of a shallow worldview that comes with being young. One of the bigger things I remember was thinking wrestling was "dumb" because it was fake. Now I honestly respect wrestling a lot and think some of it's really cool. The falseness is just part of the fun. Plus the scripted matches never stopped the actual injuries. I'm not a wrestling fan or anything but I get it now. I guess these kinds never grew out of or escaped those kinds of childish realities. A genuine group of man-children bullying each other and somehow managing to get their entire group to fear said bullying.
