The <source> tag in RSS2.0 is so sadly under-utilized. Sometimes it is the perfect fix for inter-op.

@dave Lots of useful stuff in the item tag: https://www.rssboard.org/rss-specification#hrelementsOfLtitemgtSource tag for referring back to the original feed.Comments tag seems similar to socialInteract.Category tag has a domain attribute for domain specific categories (e.g. music genres)

@dave Huh. Well, then - that tag is perfect for the newpodcasts.net podcast RSS feed! I've added it. https://podnews.net/sitemap/trailers.xml

@dave, as I look at this, we could have a source for each feed, but why? You are already on the feed link if you're on the page.

@ericpp @dave The "comments" tag - https://github.com/Podcastindex-org/podcast-namespace/discussions/680 suggests its use. A podcaster publishes an RSS feed of comments (yes! an RSS feed!) and links to it from the comments tag. This allows podcasters to combine comments on multiple social networks, for example, or to use their own commenting systems on their own websites - or, indeed, continue to use Mastodon/Nostr/whatever. It separates the contents of the comments from the method of posting them (which is what socialInteract is for).Lots of people liked this idea at the end of last year but it didn't go anywhere. Would love your eyes on it, Eric?

@james @ericpp I wonder if this would need some sort of type attribute to let the app know if it's HTML or something else. Or maybe just the Content-Type of the response header could indicate it, like how AP does things.

@james In Freedom Controller we used the <source> tag to thread comments going back and forth between RSS feeds. It's a swiss army knife. So useful.

@dave @ericpp a) I don’t think anyone uses the comments tag so I think we might be good to say we expect an RSS feed; b) of course the Content-Type is declared in the HTTP response headers.I’m really liking the idea of using the actual RSS 2.0 standard for this.
