       solar power is fucking miraculous. here's a rectangle that a human can carry easily. point it at the sun and it will do useful work for you. it will drive nearly any machine you can imagine. the power can be stored and carried - light all night, communication in your pocket. you can add more rectangles for more power. they combine easily and don't need to be aligned. it's dead silent. no fuel, no waste. works for decades with occasional cleaning. it's made from common elements.

       there's no startup procedure. it just turns light into electricity. in fact, when you are doing maintenance you have to physically shade them because there is no other way to stop it
