If Trump is so popular, with a huge mandate, and spent $50M on a huge parade. Why did no one show up?They planned for 200K to 400K people.10K dripped in and left.Empty.11M attended the No Kings protests. That's what he is.No King.Clown show.

@JRHorsting Sure, but then who voted him into the office in the elections if he is not popular?

@jebantyk @JRHorsting He won the election by one of the narrowest margins ever. That's not the mandate he claims he has, nor is it permission to overturn 250 years of constitutional republicanism.(See what I did there? I used the words the right claims to understand better than those of us who refer to the US as a democratic republic. He's not governing in an appropriate fashion no matter how you interpret our system of government.)

@LostInCalifornia “He won the election by one of the narrowest margins ever.”wasn't the Gore vs Bush Margin: 543,895 votes (0.51 %) or Kennedy vs Nixon Margin: 112,827 votes (0.17 %) election closer? What was the margin on Trump vs Harris to be the narrowest margins ever?

@jebantyk No. The national popular vote was larger in 2000, and since the GOP went to the courts to stop the recount, we will never know whether Gore won Florida or did not. That's what happens when you shortchange the constitutional process (in case of dispute, it goes to the House).Trump's popular vote count was less than 1%.

@jebantyk and you have 1960 incorrect. That was .5%, but it's also a known that both sides cheated in 1960.El Paso, for example, recorded more votes for JFK than voters. Nixon didn't sue because his side also received more votes than voters.I wouldn't use 1960 if I were you.

@LostInCalifornia can you state numbers from official Biden administration, or are you suggesting your unofficial numbers are somehow more correct? Are there different fromTrump: 77.3 million (49.8 %)Harris: 75.0 million (48.3 %)Margin: ≈ 2.3 million votes, or about 1.5 percentage points

@jebantyk And when confronted, you turn to "Biden adminstration"?K. I stopped paying attention to the actual votes out of California were still being counted. My bad.Might I just mention I said "one of the lowest margins", not "lowest", which is what you appear to be trying to conflate into what I said. One of the lowest does not equal a mandate any more than lowest would. If I were to say "lowest", I would call it the lowest undisputed margin in 100 years. You're right tho. It was tad larger than 1%. He won by less than a fraction of 50% of the vote, and it was in no shape or form a "mandate".

@LostInCalifornia would you be opposed to Harris on the same principles, defending Trump if she won only by a margin a tad larger than 1%. State that she won by less than a fraction of 50% of the vote, and it was in no shape or form a "mandate"?

@jebantyk I think Gore did the right thing by the country, as did Pence. Both could have introduced brand new levels of conspiracy theory thinking and tribal grudges, but did not. These are not projections. These are actual cases of people standing up for the nation.

@LostInCalifornia I am using Biden administration, because they were in control for years and were opposed to Trump, so clearly numbers from them should be not skewed for Trump yet still *official*.

@jebantyk years. One term, the normal amount of time a POTUS serves for one term.A "one termer" is not considered a major player in the history books. Get a grip.

@cjd @JRHorsting Sorry, but he'll think it regardless of reality. I'm afraid he'll feel the need to do somethign to feel big and important and look for *somebody* to punch down. I did peek at the "marchers" and noted as others did they were not exactly sharp.

None of the kind of people that go to marches are what I'd call sharp, but Trump is someone I wouldn't underestimate. Real Estate guys live and die by their cunning, and even if "stupid and insane" is a pleasant story, "stupid and insane" doesn't get your name on any buildings.Approval ratings have shown that he's fairly popular among the people that don't go to protests, but (one can hope) that popularity is conditioned on him sticking to economics and firing people - NOT turning into George W. Bush...If he loses popular support, people may vote Democrat in the mid-terms just to spite him, and then he'll be right back to 2017 all over again. In that circumstance he'll have no ability to help Israel at all, because Democrats are mostly aligned against Israel.

@LostInCalifornia by that logic first term of Trump were nothing interesting and nothing happened, because a "one termer" is not considered a major player in the history books.

@jebantyk or a major asshole.First president to send a mob to dispute an election he lost, and disrupt the peacefule transfer of power. Also first president to advocate for "unitary executive power" aka, the sovereign power of a monarch, while joking about his daughter being president after him.My money is on him being called an asshole.

@cjd @geonz Good thoughts, Caleb. He's going to try to stay in office criminally & unconstitutionally. Forget rational strategy, it's a cult, foreign money, with greedy people on the side. I see your point. And you saw what happened yesterday. Once people learn the stove is hot, they stop touching the burner. Scotus may be stupid, but it's going to be hard. At this point, I don't care. I have better things to do. That is how the world looks at him now. Look at the deals he's not invited to!😂
