IDK why, but out of all the horrible, no good, very depressing news on the front pages today, this one stuck in my head the most so far. From WaPo:"At least several months ago, Israel’s top spy agency, the Mossad, began to smuggle missiles into Iran and secretly installed swarms of explosive drones deep inside the country, laying the groundwork for a devastating Israeli surprise attack on Friday morning. Trying to imagine this happening here in the US. I don't really have an analogous situation to cite, but somehow the sniper attacks in DC a few years back bring to mind the sheer widespread panic of one little white van driving around and everyone looking for that one van. Now imagine there are news reports of dozens of white vans all driving around ready to release some killer drones.

@briankrebs Science fiction authors wrote novels about surprise drone strikes with swarms of small drones that get smuggled in cargo transports to a location near their targets for many decades now. I think I have read at least half a dozen cyberpunk novels where such a drone strike happens. Too many people seem to think it's still basically the 20th century, just with some fancy new technology. They don't understand what that technology means for military operations. You don't need large aircraft carriers anymore if your aircraft are small enough to fit in an Amazon box. You can hide them in other things and smuggle them to the target zones.
