       Fanboys freak out whenever big media franchises have a non-white-male protagonist. I never want to agree with those people, and yet I often find that a lot of those particular installments just aren't well written (with certain notable exceptions). The conspiracy theorist in me begins to wonder whether the studios are intentionally giving weaker material to minority actors and directors in order to set them up for failure. I want to think that we live in a world where that sort of thing doesn't happen, but... [gestures].

       Yeah I always get the feeling like "Oh wow, so I'm finally going to get a breakthrough role to jump start my career?""Yeah you'll be playing a character named Ooga Booga, let's get you fitted for a nose ring."Bottom line: people should also be involved in the decisions and planning, without all being white as a Klan member. Just having a diverse cast doesn't cut it.

       @cy It's nice when a writer-director gets to actually tell the story that they want to tell, instead of trying to make sense of something that was clearly cobbled together from multiple scripts with half a dozen credited writers.
