Does anyone know of a music tracker – maybe leaning more on the oldschool / chiptune side of things, or at least easy to learn – that runs well on the #SteamDeck?I want to try getting into making music, but it’d be even better if I could find an excuse to use my Deck a little more.

I've been meaning to try Bespoke. Haven't used it yet, but seems kinda neat.https://www.bespokesynth.com/

@saphire Yeah, comfortable controls, working in gaming mode, and I’d love for it to be open source, too.

@djsumdog I’m gonna check that out for sure. I love that it’s open source and how it came about! Though it doesn’t look like it would work with Steam Deck’s controls too well (on the go).

@plym No, more oldschool than that. If that makes sense. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_trackerBut I’m open to checking other things too. Like I’m throwing myself at Bespoke Synth now. (Not Steam Deck friendly tho unfortunately.)

@copygirl Hm well, there was this guy making just that for the Deck. I only saw it in passing back then though, and since I've personally moved away from the Renoise tracker to the Reaper DAW these last couple of years it didn't feel all to relevant for me personally. But maybe worth checking out at least? Provided that it isn't already old news for you of course. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKE6uH4Q2tI

       Hi @copygirl check out #megabatar I made all the #music & #SFX in #SunVox, that probably runs on your deck ; I mean it's a #Linux box, right?

@yPhil When I was asking for Steam Deck support, I was looking for something that worked well with its controls – no extra peripherals besides headphones. I don’t doubt that it could run most (Linux compatible) trackers well when used in a desktop-like configuration.Seeing it supposedly run on android is a plus since that means it’s likely touch and smaller-screen friendly. (Though touch only is a bit of a bother when you have buttons available.) But not being FOSS is a big downside for me.

@copygirl What do you think of Fasttracker 2? I don't remember if it's CLI or SDL-based.

@RecurringBloatware Since I’m new to this, I have no opinion. I doubt it’d work with Steam Deck’s controls tho.
