@Linux have you tooted about whether Meta has access to WhatsApp traffic for non US markets? I'm in the EU and a few days back I got a message from Meta saying "Not even WhatsApp can see your personal messagesThat includes text messages, voice messages, photos, videos, calls, and more. They’re protected with end-to-end-encryption, because we’re always committed to protecting your privacy", but I also wonder about my family and friends in Latin America.

@mdione@en.osm.town That report button works, and when you click on it, we do not just see only see the 1 message you reported. Furthermore, AI is now part of all Meta products and services. WhatsApp's own terms says, nothing is shared with WhatsApp, but is shared with Meta - A lot of double speak. That said, Meta does have some regional differences. For example, Facebook India, there is the option to lock your profile, keeping it hidden from most public eyes (not from Meta, obvious). Having said that, I don't particularly keep track or know every region specific minor detail. But if your goal is to not be watched by Meta, do not use Meta products and services. There are many who unrealistically want to use Meta without Meta knowing anything and that is completely unrealistic.

@Linux it's a very good point, WhatsApp is not Meta for these purposes. WA saying "we see nothing" does NOT mean Meta doesn't either; they just throw in that extra "not even" and that's too tenuous for a legal battle. That's enough clarificarion, thanks.

@mdione@en.osm.town If Meta owns it - It's Meta.Marketing may tell you that's not a duck, but it still quacks, flies, lays eggs, and is a fairly good swimmer.

@Linux@mk.absturztau.be @mdione@en.osm.town A moorhen or a coot is close enough anyway.
